Deal with AMA and promoter AX Promotions paves way for continental championship
HAMILTON, Ontario -- The Canadian Motorcycle Association (CMA) announces that it will sanction two rounds of Arenacross on Canadian soil during the upcoming season, laying the foundation for the series to recognize its champions with Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme North America (FIM NA) titles.
Arenacross, which is a registered trademark of the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA), has decades of history producing thrilling racing and bar-banging action in the United States. AX Promotions promotes the series under an agreement with the AMA. Now, with CMA’s sanction of the Canadian rounds, riders who contest events in both countries will vie for FIM NA Championships.
FIM NA is one of six Continental Unions recognized by the FIM, the world governing body for motorcycle sport. It includes the AMA, the CMA and the Barbados Motoring Federation.
“AMA Arenacross has a reputation for non-stop excitement, and we are thrilled to do our part to bring the discipline to Canadian soil,” said CMA CEO A. Ross de St. Croix, who also is a board member of FIM NA. “With the CMA’s sanction, it allows FIM NA to take the series to even greater heights, recognizing the best Arenacross riders across the North American continent with FIM Continental Championships.”
Shawn Smith, AX Promotions Managing Director, added: “We’ve worked hard to grow the AMA Arenacross Championship over the past few seasons, and the results have been phenomenal. Partnering with the CMA and FIM North America to establish this North American Championship is the next logical step and represents a pinnacle of achievement for the sport.”
Arenacross is motocross racing on tight indoor tracks in front of an arena full of fans. The events not only feature the best racers in the discipline racing for overall titles, but it also includes numerous sportsman classes distinguished by skill, age and displacement requirements, allowing amateur racers to experience the thrill of competition.
The 2025-26 season will include stops in Calgary and Toronto, as well as Daytona Beach, Fla., and numerous other U.S. cities. The full series calendar will be announced soon by AX Promotions.
