FIM Press Release – SHARK introduces the first FIM racing homologated helmet

The FIM is pleased to announce that FIM homologation has been granted for the new SHARK helmet for Circuit Racing, the Race R Pro GP FIM Racing #1.

This helmet comes with a standard ECE certification and has successfully passed all tests of the FIM Helmet Standard FRHPhe-01, namely linear impact tests at high (8.2 m/s) and low (5.0 m/s) speed on ECE points, medium speed linear impact tests on three extra points randomly chosen on the helmet surface, oblique impact tests with five different orientations and penetration test at two random spots.

The helmet will be available for the riders in 5 sizes (from XS to XL) and the homologation is valid only in the presence of all the available appendices (chin, top and front vents, top and chin lateral venturis) and the rear aerodynamic spoiler.

The homologation of this product is illustrated by the FIM Homologation Emblem, which features the wording “FIM Racing Homologated Helmet”, the FRHP and SKARK logos and the product information.

Alban Rojas, SHARK Helmets Research & Innovation Manager: “Racing is our DNA: SHARK Helmets has been relying on motorcycle racing to boost brand development ever since its creation 30 years ago. Our ethos is always to push the technical boundaries and innovate to ensure the highest level of performance and protection for our riders that even exceeds safety standards. For many years now, we are working very closely with the FIM Racing Homologation Programme for helmets to keep going further in the level of security for all the riders. Today, we are very proud to be one of the first brands in the world to receive the new FRHPhe-01 homologation for our flagship model, the Race-R Pro GP FIM racing # 1, which will be worn by our top riders such as Johann Zarco and Jorge Lorenzo for the next season.”
