MEMBERS HONOURED AT CMA ANNUAL MEETING

During the 73rd Annual Meeting of the Canadian Motorcycle Association, which took place in Hamilton, Ontario on November 24th, the yearly awards were announced by Board Member Holly Ralph, standing in for Vice President, Derek Thomas.

AWARD OF MERIT

PAUL IMRIE OF SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN

The Association’s most prestigious Award of Honour is given in recognition of exceptional effort or achievement on behalf of the CMA. The Board of Directors decides on an honouree from among nominations submitted by members of the Association. This is a one time award.

Paul Imrie, the 2019 recipient, is a Life Member of the CMA and was instrumental in the formation of Saskatchewan Region of our organization.

He is a former Board Member and has served at least 3 terms, representing Saskatchewan.

The Board named him Honourary Vice President a number of years ago, and he sits on the President’s Advisory Council.

Paul played an important role in the development of the Officials Certification Course and was Chair of that committee. He holds National Referee Licence #1 and in that capacity has officiated at events in almost every province and for multiple disciplines. As a teacher/conductor of Referee Seminars he has been a mentor and recruiter of new candidates for that position.

Paul spent his racing career in motocross and was a founding member of the Saskatchewan Motocross Association. Although retired from racing he is still an active road rider and has kept abreast of current CMA activities.

FULVIO CALLIMACI MEMORIAL SUPPORTERS AWARD

Recipients can be individuals or groups who have supported motorcycling and the CMA in an exceptional manner during the past year. They are chosen by the Board of Directors based on nominations by members.

KEVIN HAM – REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN

Kevin goes over and above to support fellow competitors and new riders. He established two new rider schools with the PSRA to grow the (mini roadracing) sport.

ALBERTA MINI ROADRACING ASSOCIATION – CALGARY, ALBERTA

The club has operated under the auspices of the CMA for a number of years and has always promoted the Association. The AMRA is the organizer of the FIM North America Mini Roadrace Continental Cup and is part of the CMA National Championship Series. It actively supports the CMA organizers in Saskatoon and Regina and promotes the CMA to organizers not affiliated. The AMRA supplies motorcycles, riding gear and instruction to 6 to 9 year olds at no cost, continually emphasizing good sportsmanship, safety and having fun while espousing the CMA principles of good conduct, maturity and professionalism.

ELGIN COUNTY TRIALS ASSOCIATION – LONDON, ONTARIO

It’s time to recognize the loyal support for the CMA that Elgin County has demonstrated over many years of organizing trials. This support is particularly valued in the face of challenges they have faced recently from another group, affecting their date preferences and rider entry.

VICTORIA MOTORCYCLE CLUB – VICTORIA, BC

Accolades are due the VMC for the last minute rescue of the 2019 CMA Trials Championship. They stepped up when no organizer from the zone where the event was scheduled, was able to take it on. The CMA Trial Championship was first held in 1949 and its continuation is especially important to the Association.

WHITE MEMORIAL TROPHY

LUKE SYDOR  –  EDMONTON, ALBERTA

Awarded to the Canadian rider having the best performance in winning his or her CMA Championship.

Luke was unchallenged in his domination of the 2019 CMA Hare Scrambles National Championships, Pro Class and subsequent winner of the No. 1 Plate.

BERT IRWIN MEMORIAL CUP

CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE!
