AMA, FIM NORTH AMERICA THANK ROADRACING WORLD ACTION FUND FOR SOFT-BARRIER DEPLOYMENT AT MOTOAMERICA EVENTS

May 6, 2015 //  by Heather

AMA Press Release

PICKERINGTON, Ohio — The American Motorcyclist Association and FIM North America express their appreciation to the Roadracing World Action Fund for providing soft-barrier deployment for MotoAmerica, an AMA and FIM North America Championship.

“Rider safety is paramount, and the support of the Roadracing World Action Fund is essential to ensuring rider safety at these events,” said AMA President and CEO Rob Dingman. “Thanks to the Roadracing World Action Fund, the professional racers in MotoAmerica events will be better protected in the event of a crash.”

Added FIM North America President Marilynn Bastedo: “The soft barriers are an invaluable rider safety feature, and we appreciate the generosity of the Roadracing World Action Fund and its donors to help alleviate potential injuries.”

The Roadracing World Action Fund, a 503(c)3 tax-exempt charitable organization with a mission to help reduce rider injuries, provides soft barriers deployed at road race and dirt-track events. The inflated barriers are positioned in front of walls and other trackside obstacles and work like airbags to reduce the force of impact in the event of a rider crash.

The Roadracing World Action Fund was founded in 2001 by racer, team owner and publisher John Ulrich and to date has raised more than $1.3 million to deploy soft barriers at sanctioned events nationwide. To donate, or for more information about the charity, see http://actionfund.roadracingworld.com.

MotoAmerica holds exclusive rights to promote AMA and FIM North America professional road racing events. The series is reinvigorating motorcycle racing in North America, reintroducing the most exhilarating motorsport in history to fans while grooming a new generation of American and international racers for the world stage.

The next MotoAmerica round is May 15-17 at Virginia International Raceway in Danville, Va. For more information about the series, see www.motoamerica.com..
